Firefighters have successfully extinguished all remaining pockets of fire at an incident in Radcliffe.
Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service were called to the scene at around 9:15pm last night (Tuesday).
Operations have now been scaled back and three fire engines are at the scene this morning.
Eight engines and support appliances were mobilised at the height of the blaze.
Station Manager Paul Vester, in charge at the incident this morning, said: “The swift and professional response of our crews meant that we were able to get on top of this incident quickly and then work throughout the night to bring it under control.
“The fire involved a large quantity of plastic in a single-storey detached storage unit, and I want to praise the efforts of our crews who worked in challenging conditions to contain the blaze and prevent any further spread.
“I’d also like to thank our colleagues at GMP, NWAS, Bury Council and the Environment Agency for their support at this incident.
“This morning our crews are assisting local businesses in gaining access to the site so that they can get back to work as soon as possible.
“Crews will continue their work at the scene today as they damp down any remaining hotspots and ensure the safety of the area.”
