A team of GMP officers under the codename Operation Revoke – the Bury’s district relentless response to area-driven problem solving for the community – yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2023) stopped a vehicle and found a sizeable amount of cash and drugs.
This included £10,000 in cash and two kilograms of suspected cocaine, worth a street value of £200,000.00.
Two men aged 28 and 42 were arrested and currently remain in police custody for questioning.
Sergeant James Donnelly of the Op Revoke Team in Bury, said: “Our continued investigation into the alleged large scale drugs supply operating in Bury is yielding more good results to keep our communities safe.
“By working closely with our partners, our no nonsense enforcement strategy allows us to act quickly on intelligence we received from members of the community.
“Op Revoke is still a relatively new unit in Bury, which acts proactively on community concerns by carrying out disruption activities, such as interrupting drug supply, as we have done in this case again so members of our town can be proud to live and work it in.”
In its first month, the operation has seen 24 people arrested, a street value of over £300,000 in Class A and Class B drugs taken off the streets, as well as seizing approximately £80,000 in cash.
Any members of the Bury community who have any concerns can still report it to Greater Manchester Police by approaching any of the community beat officers or local PCSO’s, or by dialling 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity – Crimestoppers – on 0800 555 111.
