Visionary day as adult care shows a feel for sensory awareness

A range of sensory support will be showcased by the council's adult care team, at the sensory event on Thursday 14 September.

The council’s adult care service is set to hold its annual information and advice day for people with hearing and sight problems.

On Thursday 14 September anyone living with a sensory impairment can attend a free event, held at Number One Riverside in Rochdale, to find out about sensory services.

There will be stalls with information and advice, free hearing screenings, and sensory equipment demonstrations. A range of innovative new assistive technology, which help to increase people’s independence in their homes, will also be showcased.

In addition, sensory experts will be on hand throughout the day to answer people’s questions and offer advice and support.

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, Rochdale Borough Council’s cabinet member for adult care, said: “This is a great opportunity for people with a sensory need to find out more about the high quality services, help and advice we have available. Our sensory support play a key role in in enhancing people’s lives and enabling them to live independently in a place of their choice. We have teamed up with partners across the borough, so a wide-range of sensory services will be showcased throughout what is always an interesting and informative day.”

The free sensory awareness event will be held at the ground floor of the council’s Number One Riverside building, Thursday 14 September, 10am to 3pm.
