Well done to “good” Bury schools

Bury schools that have achieved “good” ratings from Ofsted this autumn term have been congratulated by Councillor Tamoor Tariq, deputy leader and portfolio holder for children’s services.

Cllr Tariq visited St Peter’s Primary School in Bury, which recently improved its grade from “requires improvement” to “good”, to thank teachers, support staff and children for their hard work.

He also paid tribute to St Andrew’s Primary School in Ramsbottom, which continues to offer a “good” education for all its pupils.

Ofsted suspended many of its inspections during the 2020/21 academic year, so these are some of the first of a new round of reports to be published under a new inspection framework.

Cllr Tariq said: “Well done indeed to the teachers, support staff, children, parents and families who have worked so hard to achieve ‘good’ ratings from Ofsted.

“This is a positive achievement and reflects the commitment and hard work of the whole school community.

“All schools have had such a tough time over the last year in dealing with Covid and everything that has followed with precautions, pupils or staff having to isolate, learning from home and all the disruption.

“We are very proud of our schools.

“It is our ambition for every child in Bury to attend a school that is ‘good’ or better. Our school leaders and everyone at the council are all committed to improving children’s opportunities to learn and achieve.”
