Family owned prestige motor retail centre Williams Rochdale BMW has renewed its support of Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run, signing a new three-year deal which sees the company confirmed as title sponsor of the event until at least October 2025.
The announcement comes less than two months before the popular event returns on Sunday 8 October.
As part of the agreement the event will retain its name - Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run. Williams, based on Gorrels Way off the A627M, are helping promote the event across the region as well as having a striking presence near the town hall during the day itself.
Councillor Janet Emsley cabinet member for equity, safety and reform at Rochdale Borough Council said: “I want to thank our excellent title sponsor Williams Rochdale BMW for their continued support and we are excited to continue working with them. They have a superb team who have already put a lot of energy and enthusiasm into this event over the last few years and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the future. They benefit from the exposure that goes with having their name attached to one of the biggest local sporting events that attracts runners and spectators from across the region and beyond.”
Runners will again start on The Esplanade by Rochdale Town Hall and set out on traffic-free courses taking in town and countryside, including a stunning section around Hollingworth Lake – one of the north west’s most-popular beauty spots.
Scott Cunningham, head of business at Williams Rochdale, BMW said: “As a family-run company we’re always keen to support the community, helping people achieve their hopes and aspirations. This is a well organised and supported event that attracts a diverse field and creates a great atmosphere around the town. Most importantly it also helps raise money for some fantastic charities and we will be there supporting runners every step of the way. I am proud for Williams Rochdale to be the title sponsor again and look forward to showcasing our innovative class leading BMW vehicles to everyone involved.”
Alexandra Cook, development director at Williams Group said: “This is a fabulous event that I have had the pleasure of taking part in, and we are very pleased to extend our support.”
Since 2015 over 6,800 people have taken part in the event, which takes in town and picturesque countryside scenes like Hollingworth Lake. The courses are relatively flat too so great for personal bests.
The event has also raised tens of thousands for good causes. Jolly Josh, Maggie’s Manchester and Springhill Hospice are the official charities for the event. You are welcome to run to raise money for one of those or another charity of your choice if you wish.
