People heading to events across Greater Manchester Manchester this Bank Holiday weekend are being urged to get on board and ride the Bee Network with Pride.
To mark Pride weekend in the city, the first ever Bee Network Pride Bus has been unveiled. The bus has been specially wrapped to mark the big weekend and can now be seen carrying passengers on the Bee Network.
A Pride tram has been out on the network since Pride month in June and Starling Bikes have also been specially wrapped for Pride weekend.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, people are being urged to plan ahead to avoid delays with a number of events taking place.
Saturday is set to be the busiest day with England v Sri Lanka at Emirates Old Trafford, the annual Manchester Pride Parade, Manchester City v Ipswich Town, New Order at Wythenshawe Park and Peter Kay at AO Arena all taking place.
People are reminded that the tram is the best way to travel in and out of the city and are strongly advised against driving into the city centre due to road closures.
Trams will be running with a 15-minute frequency across the network and 7.5 minute frequency for the weekend events.
Fran Wilkinson, TfGM Customer and Growth Director said: “This Bank Holiday weekend is shaping up to be a busy one with lots of fantastic events happening across Greater Manchester. While you’re heading out for a good time, we’ll be here to keep you moving and make sure you can get where you need to be.
“Our first ever Bee Network Pride Bus is already out and about as Manchester marks Pride weekend so keep an eye out for it when travelling on the Bee Network.
“If you are heading to one of the many fantastic events this weekend we’d urge you to plan ahead to make your journey as smoothly as possible but most importantly, we hope everyone has a great time.”
There will be a number of road closures and parking suspensions around Wythenshawe Park over the weekend with New Order and Blossoms headlining the Saturday and Sunday night events respectively – full details can be found on our dedicated Wythenshawe Park webpage
On Sunday, for Blossoms, a shuttle bus service will operate between Stockport Interchange and Wythenshawe Park. Buses will leave the interchange every 10 minutes from 4pm. Following the concert, services will run to Stockport until the site is clear (approximately 1am).
