Ramsbottom United returned to the top of the North West Counties league table with a 3-2 win over Charnock Richard.

Over to Liverpool and Anfield for the Rams as their title ambitions were tested and this was the northwest counties league version of a crunch top of the table encounter.

Whilst they currently lead the NWCFL Premier Division table, there are still around a third of the season to be played, and Ramsbottom United are well aware of the tough challenges they face if they are to maintain that spot and along with it, promotion back to the Northern Premier League.

Ramsbottom United travelled to east Manchester on a day when the weather saw many games postponed
